Artisan in Residence Program

What We Believe:

Post industrial revolution; we need to look back for just a few moments and reflect on what we did before the industrial revolution. So, what was respected in the United States before that time? We believe it was faith/spirituality and the balance between art and craft to build quality, sustainable, functional, and beautiful things. In a world of assembly lines, there is a greater need for us, the Artisans.*** We believe communities or like minds need to share their cultures and start behaving intentionally with greater respect and gratitude.  We believe that we should respect the beliefs of those that are not like minded and practice empathy when exposed to what we don’t understand.

***An artisan (from French: artisan, Italian: artigiano) is a skilled craft worker who makes or creates things by hand that may be functional or strictly decorative, for example furniture, decorative arts, sculptures, clothing, jewellery, food items, household items and tools or even mechanisms such as the handmade clockwork movement of a watchmaker. Artisans practice a craft and may through experience and aptitude reach the expressive levels of an artist.
