Dave Britt, a scene veteran from Columbia, SC has a long history of performing and writing his own music as well as serving as a talented side guitarist/keyboardist in various bands.
Though Britt is these days more prominently known as a music promoter and organizer who produces various concerts around town such as the River Rocks Festival and the Rosewood Crawfish Festival, Waiting for a Brighter Sun is a welcome return for Britt as singer/songwriter frontman.
Britt produced and recorded the majority of the new album in his home studio and tracked drums and final mixes at Columbia’s renowned Jam Room Studio with tracks mastered at the Jam Room and Charlotte’s Studio B.
“(the album is)…something that goes down easy and affably…that’s not to say that it lacks experimentation or ambition. The opening song “Over My Shoulder” mixes a metronomic reggae rhythm with some funky Daft Punk style vocoders and horn-like synth work something which also pops up in the driving “Nothing Better”. There’s also the swirling guitar magnetism of “10,000 Miles Away” and “Don’t Wake Me” both of which feature tremelo guitar solos. And throughout, Britt tries out various vocal filters, reverbs and other kinds of knob twisting that lend an air of weightlessness to the proceedings” — Kyle Peterson – Jasper Magazine
He’s always had a knack for insistent, melodic pop-rock with touches of root-rock sturdiness and U2 style alt-rock uplift working in his own studio has given him a chance to tweak the production and polish his arrangements into tunes that are both memorable and accessible to a broad audience. Britt knows how to write big, memorable chorus and play well to that strength in his latest release.
Backed by the solid rhythm section of James Beresford on Bass and Steve Sancho on drums Britt’s live show is also compelling and engaging. The band recently finished a southeastern tour that took the band to Asheville, NC, Nashville, TN, Atlanta, GA, Charlotte, NC, Charleston, SC as well as a handful of other markets with good initial success.
The band continues to tour and has been recording new music with producer Rick Beato (Shinedown, Need to Breathe, Parmalee) and continues to tour in support of The new album Waiting for a Brighter Sun.
