Ready for some acoustic blues?! The trio, Blues Line, with Rev. Marv Ward (guitar), Luckyman Beall (bass), and Anthony Charles (harmonica) is coming to the Woodshed Thursday, May 5th. Tune in online from 8-10pm for our live session featuring these three accomplished blues musicians!

Veteran Blues Guitarist Rev. Marv Ward grew up in the small town of Lorton, Virginia. He played his first gig at 10 and started performing professionally at age 16. He’s played in literally dozens of bands over the past 40 years and has secured his place among bluesmen with his straightforward no-nonsense blues style. It’s a little bit Delta, a little bit Piedmont, a whole lot of R&B, but mostly, it’s straight up Rev. Marv Ward. The Rev has played his original and visionary blues stylings in venues all over the country and has shared stages with music legends such as Aerosmith, Joan Baez, Dave Van Ronk, Paul Geremia, Maria Muldaur, Nappy Brown, John Hammond, Bob Margolin, Big Bill Morganfield, Mac Arnold, Mooky Brill, and many more.

Laurence “Luckyman” Beall may be best known for his one-man band style of performing; however, in Blues Line he plays a mean bass to round out the trio. Describing his music, he says, “Some of it’s rockabilly, some is blues, some of it’s rockabilly and blues rolled into one. Some of it is old honkey tonk style and some of it is soul music. It’s Americana.” So there.

Anthony Charles was born in New York City and started fronting bands in the 60’s garage rock era. An accomplished singer-songwriter, Anthony spent much of the 80’s working for East-West Music, in NYC, singing jingles. Anthony studied formally and graduated from the Oxhon School of Music under the direction of Master jazz pianist and composer Jack Reilly where he studied jazz piano and theory. Anthony has many musical influences from Thelonious Monk, The Beatles, The Stones, Otis Redding, Paul Butterfield, Schoenberg and Bach. Currently he provides the lead vocals and harmonica for Anthony Charles and The Blues Dolphins, an authentic Chicago style Blues Quartet.
