In 2009, at the age of 21, Carey Murdock founded NoStar Recordings and released his first full length album, a self-titled rock ‘n roll trio album, under the moniker NoStar. A year later, Murdock released Baby Don’t Look Down as the first album under his own name. The album featured Cary Ann Hearst of Shovels & Rope on the duet “Young Love”, and Murdock’s “love note to his hometown”, the song “Augusta”.
Carey Murdock moved to Nashville in 2011. He began touring the US and Europe regularly and playing, on average, 200 shows a year in 10 countries. Since then, he has toured with and supported many well-known artists such as Shovels & Rope, Grace Potter, Need to Breathe, Florida Georgia Line, Shawn Mullins, Parmalee, and more.
He released the EP Shot in the Dark in 2013 and the single “Be Your Man” in 2014. “Be Your Man” was selected by Tunecore and Amazon for their 2014 Valentine’s Day compilation album.
In mid 2014, Carey Murdock moved back to Augusta, Georgia to be closer to his family as both of his parents are been struggling with harsh cases of Lyme Disease, a tick borne illness. Murdock continues to record and tour extensively. His third studio album, If It’s Got Wheels, was released August 7, 2015 on CD and digital platforms with a vinyl version soon to follow.
